Admin

One of the 3 roles that can be set up for users of App Studio's UI (Tester - Designer - Admin). Admin gives the user the greatest access and abilities within App Studio. Namely, ablility to preview issue on device only (following set up online), ability to log in to App Studio portal to manage issues: create, delete, publish and test and the ability to invite others

Article

Issues are divided into one or more articles, each of which is usually created from a single project (QuarkXPress). Each article displays as an entry in the automatically generated table of contents.

Designer

One of the 3 roles that can be set up for users of App Studio's UI (Tester - Designer - Admin). Designer gives the user the medium access and abilities within App Studio. Namely, ablility to preview issue on device only (following set up online), and the ability to log in to App Studio portal to manage issues: create, delete, publish and test

In-app purchase

In-app purchasing refers to the ability to facilitate the sale of products (usually issues in App Studio's case) within your app. This provides a further way of monetizing where the initial app is free

Issue

This is the instance or single copy of your publication (eg the September issue) There may be one or many issues of a publication. In App Studio, content of issues is automatically generated via one of a number of sources: QuarkXPress, XML or HTML5, and you have options for your issue to be free, premium or part of a subscription.

Organization

This is set as your company name as given in the sign up process.

In App Studio (whether as part of a trial or as a premium customer) one organization may have one or many publications (titles).

If someone from the same organization wants to set up a further publication, they are prompted in the sign up process to contact the originator/administrator in order that they can collaborate on the same App Studio account.

Portal

Also known as the App Studio user interface or client.

Publication

This is the name of your publication or title (magazine, journal, periodical etc) so will be the name of your published app. It may even be the same as your company name. Example:
Quark [Organization] > App Studio News [Publication] > September issue [Issue]

You can add one or more publications or titles to your organization within App Studio.

If someone from the same organization wants to set up a further publication, they are prompted in the sign up process to contact the originator/administrator in order that they can collaborate on the same App Studio account.

A publication may have one or many issues (though it is only possible to add one issue in a Free Trial)

Push notifications

Push notification allows an app to notify users of new messages or events without the need to actually open the application, in a similar way to how users received a text message

Tester
